How It Happened
• The Spartans carried the play from the opening whistle as the Spartans got the game's first shot off inside the first two minutes and eared a penalty corner 30 seconds later. That pressure would pay off as junior Paige Taylor tipped in an Ali Posey pass from the top of the circle 2:41 into the game for the 1-0 lead.
• York continued to pressure the Blue Jay defense and found the back of the cage for the second time when Beth Patrick notched a goal as she collected the ball, drove to the end line and snuck a shot inside the near post for the 2-0 Spartan lead midway through the first half.
• The Spartans made it 3-0 just over seven minutes later as Posey lofted a pass towards the goal that fellow senior Anne Measley tipped home for the Spartan goal.
• The Spartans outshot the Blue Jays 15-0 in the first half and also held a 12-0 margin in penalty corners.
• It wouldn't take long for York to add to their lead in the opening minute of the second half as Lindsay Nye sprung Autumn Mallory with a long outlet pass. Mallory beat a defender and drilled the ball into the back of the cage for her sixth goal of the year.
• The Blue Jays showed some life after the Spartan goal as they came back with back-to-back shots followed by a penalty corner. Elizabethtown converted the penalty corner into an Emma Christman goal as she scored off a pass from Megan Eppley, cutting York's lead to 4-1.
• The Green and White answered the goal exactly 33 seconds later as Greta Plappert converted a loose ball in the circle into her sixth goal of the year as she is tied with Mallory for the team lead.
• Junior Lindsay Nye scored York's next two goals as she converted a pass from Plappert with a backhanded flick, giving York a 6-1 lead.
• Nye struck again just over three and a half minutes later as she beat a charging Elizabethtown goalie for the 7-1 York lead.
• Sophomore Meghan Heary closed out the win with her first goal as she finished off a loose ball in front of the cage for the 8-1 lead.
• The Blue Jays closed out the scoring with a Abyy Spessard goal with just under five minutes left in regulation.
