How It Happened
• It took almost 20 minutes for the Spartan offense to reach high gear, but once the first goal smacked the back of the net, the goals started flowing. First, it was Autumn Mallory managing to get on a loose ball and slide it past the goalie. It was Mallory's fourth of the season.
• Just 15 minutes later, Ali Posey scored her second of the season on a penalty stroke. Posey's goal came just 58 seconds before halftime, but the Spartans weren't done. Freshman Dana Meehling scored in the final seconds before half on a penalty corner.
• With a 3-0 lead intact heading into the final 35 minutes, York continued to keep the pressure on the Lions. Within the first two minutes of the second half, Mallory had her second goal of the game, coming off a Posey assist. Mathilde Govers notched her first of the season in the 56th minute from a Beth Patrick assist. Albright returned the favor a minute later but the damage was done. Greta Plappert put the icing on the cake in the 65th minute, for her fifth of the season, to put York ahead 6-1.
