GAME HIGHLIGHTS

• The first quarter was tightly played with neither team being able to assert control of the game. The quarter was tied three different times but the Captains took a 14-13 lead after the first 10 minutes of play.

• The Captains took control of the game in the opening four minutes of the second quarter. CNU ripped off eight straight points to take a 22-13 lead with 6:08 left in the quarter. The Spartans trimmed the lead to three on a Sam Hruz jumper but the Captains hit York with another run, this time a 12-4 run that pushed the lead to 34-23. York scored the final four points of the half but the damage had been done.

• The Captains pushed the lead to 13 four times during the third quarter but York was able to cut the CNU lead to nine at 51-42 heading to the fourth.

• York continued their run from the end of the third quarter with a quick four points to start the fourth as the Spartans cut their deficit to five (51-46). The Captains answered the run with 7-0 run to push the lead back to 12. York would not get closer than eight the rest of the way.

The Spartans have now lost four straight to the Captains as CNU swept the season series … prior to the game, the Spartans honored their four seniors as Sam Hruz, Morgan Golec, Brianna Bisci, and Sarah Shearer were playing their final regular season home game on Saturday … the senior class has combined for a record of 75-33 during their four year careers … the Spartans' 29 turnovers tied a season high (@ Marymount – Feb. 11) … York has committed 77 turnovers in their last three games … CNU scored 26 points off the Spartans' 29 turnovers … York blocked nine shots and that's the fifth time this year that the Spartans have blocked nine shot or more in a game … CNU converted their 18 offensive rebounds into 18 second chance points … York has alternated one win and one loss over the last six games.

The Spartans begin their trek through the Capital Athletic Conference post season as York will host Frostburg State University in the tournament's first round on Tuesday night. The Spartans are the tournament's fourth seed while the Bobcats are the fifth seed. Tip time for the first game of the doubleheader is set for 6:00 pm.
