How It Happened
• The Spartans jumped on the board early as York drew the third penalty kick of the year 11:48 into the game. Much like the other two occasions, junior defender Ryan Ockford (Langhorne, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) banged home the PK to give York the early 1-0. It was the fourth goal of the year with three coming on penalty kicks.
• The Diplomats got a penalty kick of their own just over four minutes later but Stephen Sherban's attempt was stopped by Spartan goalkeeper Charlie Johnson (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) as he notched the save to keep the one goal Spartan advantage.
• York had another good opportunity when Matt Freibaum (New Market, Md./Linganore) ripped a shot in the 21st minute that was saved, preventing York from building on their lead.
• F&M outshot the Spartans 7-3 in the first half while they also had a 6-0 bulge in corner kicks. Johnson had three first half saves for York.
• The Diplomats tied the game in the 61st minute. Wyatt Fabian hit a header into the right side of the box. Jason Tonelli collected the pass and hit a right footed shot into the lower left side of the goal. The goal was Tonelli's third of the year.
• Johnson came up big for York as he had three saves over the final 25 minutes of regulation to force the overtime.
• York had the only three shots of the first overtime period. Nathan Bilbie (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock), Joel Teston (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) and Brett Strickler (York, Pa./West York) each squeezed off shots in the first 10 minute overtime.
• F&M took a pair of shots late in the second overtime but neither were on target as the teams settled for their first tie of the year.

They Said It:
"It was a tough game against very good F&M team. We had a few good chances early in the game and some good possession and then F& M controlled the tempo of the game for the majority of the second half. Charlie Johnson stepped up big time for us tonight on a number of occasions. To their crediit, F&M is a deep, talented, and very organized team. I thought our guys showed a lot of togetherness to stay focused and play a strong two overtime periods. It was certainly a good test for our young group." – Spartan head coach Evan Scheffey.
