Box Score YORK, Pa.- The York College field hockey squad dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 double-overtime, shootout loss to Juniata College on Saturday afternoon in York. The loss was York's first setback of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Juniata leads early in the first half with the first goal coming off an unassisted goal at 9:16 from Lindsay Scholten as the Eagles scored just their third goal in five games.
• At 48:41, York's Lindsay Nye (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita deflected an Ali Posey (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) pass into the cage for the only Spartan goal of the game. The goal was Nye's team-leading eighth of the season and marks the fourth straight game in which she has scored.
• The first overtime saw the Eagles outshoot York 4-3 while Juniata had a 5-1 margin in penalty corners.
• The second overtime would be a complete role reversal as the Spartans outshot their guests 8-0 while they also had a 2-1 margin in penalty corners.
• The teams would both covert two of the five shootout opportunities. Both teams missed on their sixth and seventh attempts. York also failed on their eighth attempt but Rebecca Waite finished her chance in Juniata's eighth round to earn the win for the Eagles.

The Spartans went in to the game 5-0 which is the best start of a season since 2000 … the Spartans are now 5-17-2 all time against Juniata …. YCP also fell to Juniata a year ago as the Spartans have lost two straight to the Eagles … Lindsay Nye scored her eighth goal of the season Nye has now scored at least a goal in four straight games … Nye and Posey led the offense in 10 shots each. …. the overtime loss for the Spartans is the first in three overtime games this year … the Spartans trailed at the half for just the second time this year.
UP NEXT
York returns to action on Wednesday when they are on the road at Elizabethtown for another non-conference matchup. Then will return home on Saturday September 24 to start a series of three home games against Christopher Newport in the season's first Capital Atlantic Conference game. York will then host Johns Hopkins on September 28 and Wesley on October 1.
