How It Happened
• The Cougars opened the scoring in the 15th minute as Chris Edkins scored off a pass from Niko Amity. The goal came on the Cougars fourth shot of the game.
• York wasted little time in responding as Nathan Bilbie (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) recorded his second goal of the year a mere 22 seconds after Edkins' goal. Biblie's goal was assisted by Matt Freibaum (New Market, Md./Linganore).
• The two teams would continue to go back and forth in the opening 45 minutes of the game. York would end the first half with a 9-6 margin in total shots. Both teams put three of their shot on goal.
• Bilbie had a chance to give the Spartans the lead in the 52nd minute as he blistered a shot that hit the cross bar.
• The Cougars netted the go-ahead goal in the 63rd minute as Anthony Ippolito converted a Barry Kabinoff pass into a goal.
• York would get a good attempt by Joel Teston (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) in the 79th minute but Matt Smith would get the save for the Cougars.
• Bilbie had a chance to get the equalizer but he hit the cross bar for the second time in the half as that would be York's last chance. Bilbie's shot came at the 86:10 mark.
