HOW IT HAPPENED

 • York got on the board early as sophomore Paige Taylor (York, Pa./Red Lion) scored off a scramble on a penalty corner 15 minutes into the game. Taylor's goal was her third of the year.

• The Spartans would have a few other chances in the opening 35 minutes as the Spartans outshot the Diplomats 12-5 in the stanza. York also held a 4-2 advantage in shots on goal in the first half.

• As the second half progressed, the Diplomat pressure grew on the Spartan defense. Sophomore goalie Eve Hauptle (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) recorded four saves in the final 15 minutes of the game to keep the Green and White in front.

• Sophomore Lindsay Nye (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) put home an insurance goal as she put home an empty net tally with 17 seconds left in the game. The goal came off a pass from junior Ali Posey (Airville, Pa./Red Lion), icing the win. The goal was Nye's team best seventh of the season.
