Box Score YORK, PA – The York College women's basketball team couldn't overcome poor shooting and turnovers as the 17th ranked Mary Washington Eagles downed the Spartans 57-46 in Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon in York.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• The first quarter saw the two teams go back and forth as there were three ties and the largest lead was three points. The teams were tied at four, at six, and again at eight before the Spartans took a 10-8 lead on a Katie Wagner lay up. Morgan Golec split a pair of free throws in the final two seconds of the quarter as York finished the period with an 11-8 lead.
• The Spartans opened the second quarter with a Golec three pointer as York took a 14-8 lead just six seconds into the quarter. The Eagles answered with an emphatic 17-2 run, turning a six point York lead into a 25-16 Eagle advantage. York went over six and a half minutes without scoring. Freshman Katie McGowan halted the run with a three-point play with 32 seconds left in the half. The Eagles got a Brianne Comden free throw with nine seconds left to take a 26-19 lead to the break.
• York came out of the intermission and got a Beth Wiseley three to open the second half scoring. The Eagles answered with eight straight points to push the lead to 34-22 with 6:25 left in the third. York methodically worked away at the Mary Washington lead, trimming their deficit to five on a Sam Mocniak three pointer with 1:21 left in the quarter. Golec split another pair of free throws with 50 seconds left in the third as York headed to the fourth quarter down just 40-36 despite their poor shooting and turnovers.
• The opening minutes of the fourth quarter saw the two teams go back and forth. Morgan Kuehne got the Spartans to within four at 46-42 with 2:54 left in the game. The Eagles ripped off five straight points on a Kendall Parker three and a Comden lay up, quickly pushing the lead to nine as York would not be able to recover. Kuehne split a pair of free throws to trim York's deficit to eight at 51-43 but that was as close as York would get the rest of the way. The Eagles went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final minute of play to remain perfect for the year.

The Spartans have lost two straight against the Eagles as Mary Washington is now 45-25 all-time against York … senior Sam Hruz blocked four more shots as she now has an even 200 for her career … Hruz recorded another game with double figures in rebounding as she has six games this year with double digits in boards … the Spartans committed a season-high 24 turnovers, six more than their previous high of 18 in the win over Lebanon Valley … the Eagles turned York's 24 turnovers into 17 points … York continued their struggles from the free throw line as York was just 7-for-13 from the line as they are now down to 62.6% for the season from the stripe … York has only shot better than 67% once this year (vs. Goucher, 12-for-16, 75%) … The Eagles outscored York 18-8 in the second and 17-10 in the fourth quarters … York shot 18.8% (3-for-16) in the second quarter while the Eagles nailed 8-for-11 (72.7%) from the floor in the quarter … for the second straight game, York had just one double digit scorer and it is the third time this year that York has had just one double digit scorer (UMW, PSU Harrisburg, Eastern) … Morgan Kuehne has led the Spartans in scoring twice this year … Hruz has led the Spartans in rebounding in six of York's seven games this year … York will now have eight days until their next game.
