GAME HIGHLIGHTS
• The sixth ranked Christopher Newport Captains got off to a fast start in the game as they blew out to a 12-2 lead just 3:05 into the game. Rayshard Brown scored eight of the 12 points on the game-opening run.
•Junior Zack Galic drilled a three, cutting the York deficit to five at 13-8. The Captains pushed the lead back to 12 at 24-12 but the Spartans battled back again, trimming the CNU lead to six at 28-22 with 5:39 left in the half.
• The Captains again surged ahead, this time building the lead to 15 on a Tyler Femi three with 2:46 left in the half. The Spartans ripped off an 11-0 run, cutting their deficit to just four at 39-35 with 27 seconds left in the half. York got back-to-back threes from Brad Wesner and Mike Frauenheim on the run. The Captains got a pair of free throws with three seconds left to extend their lead to six at 41-35 at the break.
• Much like the first half, the Captains got off to a fast start to open the second half. CNU scored the first 12 points of the half to push out to a 53-35 lead just under six minutes into the half. York battled to cut the lead to 12 on a Zach Novick three but the Captains responded with a 10-0 run to push their lead to 22 with 7:24 left in the game.
• The Captains would slowly increase their lead as they maintained a lead in the 20's the rest of the way.
