How It Happened
• The Spartans had a stroke of bad luck early as the Green and White had an own goal just 4:10 into the game.
• The two teams went back and forth the remainder of the first half. York ended the half with a 4-3 edge in total shots while both teams had three corner kicks.
• The Spartans had a great chance to tie the game in the 52nd minute as Nathan Bilbie drilled the cross bar with an outstanding chance. The cross bar kept the Eagle lead at one.
• UMW got an insurance goal in the 62nd minute as Riley Fisher tallied an unassisted goal.
• It got crazy in the 68th minute as Elvin Arbaiza was given a card for taking down a Spartan in the box. Goalie Matt Spencer, who had already earned a yellow card in the first half, earned himself a red card for vehemently arguing the card with the center referee. Ryan Ockford took the penalty kick for the Spartans for the fourth time this year. For the first time, he was unsuccessful as the Eagles kept York off the board.
• The Spartans would play the final 22:53 a man up and the Spartans would pressure the Eagle defense heavily. Unfortunately for York, the Spartans would be unable to break into the scoring column despite outshooting the Eagles 10-3 in the second half.
