HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore Lindsay Nye (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) got the Spartans off to a great start in the game as she found the back of the cage with the game's first shot. She scored as she drove a shot home from middle of the circle into the back of the cage. The goal came a mere 2:46 into the game. Nye's goal was her 14th of the year.
• The play would be back and forth the remainder of the first half. The Spartans would outshoot the Mustangs 7-6 in the half while both teams had five penalty corners. York held a very slim 3-2 edge in shots on goal in the opening 35 minutes.
• The second half seemed to be a carry over of the first half as the momentum continued to go back and forth as shots came in clusters for both sides.
• The Green and White got a key insurance goal in the 51st minute off a penalty corner. Senior Alexa Taylor (York, Pa./Red Lion) pushed out a pass to defender Kenidy Kubitz (Boyertown, Pa./Oley Valley). Kubitz hit a rocket inside the left post to give the Green and White a 2-0 lead. The goal was Kubitz's first career goal as a Spartan.
• The Mustangs pulled their goalie with 12:31 left in regulation but the Spartans would withstand the extra attacker to earn the win.
