HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Spartans carried the play the majority of the first half but would be unable to find the back of the cage. York outshot the Seahawks 11-0 with six of the Spartan shots coming on goal. York also had a 10-1 bulge in penalty corners but the Seahawk defense played well in keeping York out of the back of the cage.
• York finally got on the scoreboard in the 45th minute as the Spartans finally cashed in on a corner. Alexa Taylor inserted the ball to Ali Posey who sent the ball along the top of the circle. Meghan Heary fired the ball into the circle and Lindsay Nye diverted the ball into the cage for the goal. The goal was Nye's team-leading 18th of the year and gave the Spartans a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
• The Spartans made it 2-0 just over 11 minutes later as Beth Patrick carried the ball down the right wing before cutting towards the end line. Patrick struck a perfect centering pass to Autumn Mallory who blasted the pass into the back of the cage for her ninth goal of the year.
• York capped the scoring with 10:46 left in regulation as Alexa Taylor pushed home a loose ball for the Spartan goal. It was Taylor's third goal of the year.
