Box Score YORK, PA – The York College women's soccer team celebrated senior day in fine style as they won their third straight match with a 1-0 victory over Salisbury University on a blustery Saturday afternoon in York.

How It Happened:
• The first half was offensively challenged as the teams battled the extreme elements. Neither team was able to put a shot on target in the first 45 minutes of play.
• The Spartans outshot Salisbury in the first half 3-2 while both teams had a pair of corner kicks.
• York scored the game's only goal in the 60th minute. Freshman Georgia Gillcrist hit a beautiful cross the found the foot of the streaking Maxine Herman. Herman finished off the chance inside the back post, giving York the 1-0 lead. The goal was Herman's team-leading sixth of the year.
• The Gulls had their lone shot on goal of the game in the 88th minute as Jenna Taylor threw a shot on net that was saved by Spartan keeper Brittany Cullison to preserve the shutout.
• Salisbury had chance to tie the game in the final three minutes as they had two shots and a pair of corner kicks but the Spartan defense was able to turn away the Gulls to preserve the clean sheet.

The Spartans improve to 9-15-3 all-time against Salisbury as they have now won two straight against their rivals from Maryland … Maxine Herman has four goals in the last two games on eight shots with a pair of game-winning goals … the shutout is York's fourth of the season … York had just five shots which marks the seventh time this year that they have been held to single digits in shots … it also marks the first time York has won a game with having just single digits in shots … the 1-0 win is just the second of the year for York … prior to the game the Sparatns honored their four seniors as Kirsten Good, Elexa Sherman, Emily Cronise, and Emily Chambers are wrapping up their Spartan careers … the senior class now has 34 wins over the last four years ... York has outscored their three opponents 10-2 during their three match win streak.

The Spartans conclude their 2016 regular season on Wednesday, October 26 at Graham Field when York welcomes St. Mary's College to town. The game is set for a 3:30 pm kick off and will go a long way in determining the seedings for the upcoming CAC tournament.
