Box Score YORK, Pa. – The York College women's soccer team came out on the losing end of a 1-0 decision as the Spartans hosted Gettysburg College on Wednesday evening at Graham Field.
The Bullets (3-0-2) claimed the 1-0 victory with a goal by Jessica Cuttone in the 42nd minute. Cuttone rushed up the middle and one-touched the ball into the net after it rebounded off the crossbar on a shot by Krissy Bradley.
The goal was a bad break York (1-4) and its goalkeeper Kate Lutte (Catasauqua, Pa. / Catasauqua) who had made four saves prior to the goal. Lutte played well throughout the contest and finished with seven saves, which matches her career-high set earlier in the year against Alvernia.
One of best offensive chances for York came very early in the contest when Emily Cronise (Hagerstown, Md. / Boonsboro) chipped a shot from approximately 22 yards out that forced the goalie to retreat, but the ball had a little too much air underneath it as it sailed over the crossbar. Cronise led the team with three total shots on the day.
The Spartans managed to accumulate just five total shots, two of which went on goal. Gettysburg totaled 17 shots and put eight on goal.
The Green and White take a week off and will return to action next Wednesday, September 23, in a home match against Juniata at 4:00 p.m.
