Men's Soccer Closes Out Campaign on a High Note

Box Score

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The York College men's soccer team closed out its 2014 campaign on a positive note, claiming a 3-0 victory at St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Yawo Baah (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) closed out his Spartan career in style as he matched his single-game high point total with three as he recorded a goal and an assist in the contest.

York (7-6-5, 4-3-2 CAC) took an early lead in the 10th minute on just its second shot as Christopher Saberton (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) sent his shot to pay dirt. Saberton closes out his junior campaign with six points on two goals and two assists.

The Spartans extended their lead over the Seahawks (9-9, 5-4) to 2-0 as the Green and White's leading scorer Peter Lundgaard (Greenville, Del./Salesianum) sent a shot to the back of the net after receiving a helper from Baah. Lundgaard finishes the year with 13 points on six goals and one assist.

Baah would later convert a penalty kick for York's third and final tally of the contest. The senior midfielder finishes his career playing in 40 games while totaling nine points on three goals and three assists.

Another four-year Spartan that saw his career come to a close was senior captain Justin Kaiser (Bradenburg, Ky./Menchville (Va.)). Best known for his leadership and steady play, Kaiser competed in 58 games as a member of the Spartan defensive unit as he compiled seven points on three goals and one assist.

Both of these four-year Spartans were members of three CAC Championship teams with three trips to the NCAA Tournament and helped compile a record of 55-17-15 during their careers. We wish these young men the best of luck in their future endeavors.
