Box Score YORK, Pa. – The York College field hockey team suffered its second-straight home shutout loss of the week, falling 6-0 to No. 1 Salisbury on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans (10-5, 1-2 CAC) fell into a sudden hole early as the Sea Gulls (12-1, 3-0) notched a tally at 1:13 into the contest.
Salisbury put a stronghold on the momentum of the game as the Gulls tallied their third goal of the contest with 17 seconds remaining in the first half.
At the end of the first half, York trailed 3-0, in addition to being out-shot 11-2 and out-chanced on penalty corners 7-2.
The second stanza progressed much like the first as Salisbury accumulated three more goals and racked up 14 more shots.
The Sea Gull defense stifled a Spartan attack that averages 15.4 shots-per-game to just six in today's contest.
Freshman Ali Posey (Airville, Pa./Red Lion) led the Green and White with three shots, all of which were on goal. Junior Holly Martin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) also recorded a shot on goal, bringing the team total to four on the day.
Freshman goalkeeper Jessica Everett (Windsor, Pa./Red Lion) had a busy day in the cage as she faced 16 shots on goal, including two penalty strokes. Everett recorded 10 saves, one of which was on one of the two penalty strokes in which she laid out to her right to prevent the stroke from being converted.
York faces another tall task in its next game as the Spartans travel to Fredericksburg, Va. to face No. 18 Mary Washington on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
