Box Score GETTYSBURG, PA - The York College women's soccer team
dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision at Gettysburg College on a
cool and wet Thursday night in Gettysburg. The Spartans fall to
5-9-1 overall while the Bullets improve to 8-5 for 2010.
The Bullets struck for the game's first goal just 7:40 into the
game as Lauren Johnson lofted a corner kick to the far post where
Sarah Yeager finished the chance inside the far post. The goal was
Yeager's first of the year.
The Bullets outshot the Spartans 6-1 in the first half as the
Green and White could not muster any sustained offense as they
suffered their eighth shutout loss of the year.
Gettysburg added to the lead 9:13 into the second half as Rachel
West fed a ball along the end line past Spartan keeper Desiree
Halaka unto the waiting foot of Casey Attanasio who
booted the ball home for the 2-0 Gettysburg lead. The goal was
Attanasio's fourth of the campaign.
Allie Rivera posted the win in goal for the Bullets as she
posted the clean sheet. Rivera was not credited with a save as
Gettysburg registered a team save on the Spartans' lone shot on
goal. Halaka suffered the loss as she played all 90 minutes, making
three saves in her 90 minutes of work.
Gettysburg outshot the Spartans 14-5 for the match while the
Spartans held a slight 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday as they travel to Mary
Washington in a big Capital Athletic Conference match. The game is
set for 1:00 pm in Fredericksburg, Va.
