GRANTHAM, PA-The York College women's soccer squad dropped
their second straight as Messiah College downed the Spartans 4-0 on
a warm fall Wednesday evening in Grantham, PA. The Falcons remain
perfect at 10-0 while the Spartans fall to 7-4-1 overall.
The Falcons opened the scoring in the 27th minute as Amanda
Nacher tallied an unassisted goal, putting the hosts up 1-0. Erin
Hench pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 35th minute as she recorded an
unassisted goal.
Messiah took the 2-0 lead to the break as they outshot York 7-2
for the half.
The Falcons added to the lead early in the second half as Corrie
Jones scored off a pass from Kacie Klynstra in the 51st minute of
the game. Hench closed out the scoring with a goal off a pass from
Nacher in the 76th minute.
The Falcons ended the game with a significant 19-4 bulge in
total shots. York did manage to hold a 5-4 margin in corner kicks
for the game.
Brindley Beckwith pitched the shutout in goal for the Falcons.
She was not forced to make as save in the win. Meagan
Cahill (Crofton, Md./Arundel) made five saves as she
allowed all four Falcon goals.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday when they host St.
Mary's College in a critical CAC contest. Game time at
Graham Field is set for 12:00 pm.
