YORK, PA – The York College women's cross country team enters the 2019 season with a big target on their backs. The Spartans head into their final season in the Capital Athletic Conference as the three-time defending league champions.
Head coach Stephen LoBianco must replace two key runners from last year but he is optimistic about some of his younger runners stepping in to replace those lost to graduation.

• Sophomore Jordan Haberstroh returns to the lineup after a year in which she was named the Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year as she placed eighth at the conference championships. Haberstroh was one of four Spartans to earn first-team All-CAC honors with a time of 24:42.5. Haberstroh then was York's top finisher at the Mid-East Regionals in Alletown as she placed 36th with a time of 24:05. She was two seconds away from earning All-Regional honors as signified by a top 35 finish.
• Junior Emma Rogers came on strong as a sophomore for the Spartans. She finished sixth at the CAC championships to earn her first All-CAC accolade. Rogers then placed 39th at the Mid-East Regionals as she finished with a time of 24:10, her best regional finish.
• Sophomore Taylor Barkdoll comes into her second year in the program after earning second-team All-CAC honors last fall. She crossed the line in a time of 24:48.6 to earn a 12th place finish at the championships. Barkdoll closed out her first year in the Green and White with a 112th place finish at the Mid-East Regionals, covering the course in a time of 25:27.
The Spartans were picked first in the Capital Athletic Conference pre-season poll … the women's cross country team is the second Spartan squad to win three consecutive Capital Athletic Conference championships in school history, matching the men's cross country team's three titles from 2011-13 … the Spartans finished ninth at the Mid-East Regionals last year, the third time they have been inside the top ten in a regional championship … the Spartans will host the inaugural EW Relay Classic to open the season on Friday, August 30 … the Spartans are set to host the final Capital Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, November 2 … York has two events in September, October and November in a very balanced schedule.
