In the 2026-2027 school year, Coach Duane Bastress is entering his 14th season at the helm of the Spartan men’s wrestling team and fourth season as the women’s head wrestling coach. Coach Bastress is coming off a successful 2025-2026 on both the men’s and women’s side, including three wrestlers making NCAA National Championship appearances.

Women’s Wrestling

  • In the inaugural season, led the Spartans to a National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championship appearance
  • Coached seven National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championship wrestlers
  • MAC Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2026

  • Seven wrestlers made National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championship appearances in the first two season of the program (Maura White - 2024, 2025; Daisy Hawkins - 2025; Gisele Ramirez - 2025; Kylie Monroe - 2025; Allison Brandt - 2025; Emma Lavalle - 2025)
  • Had three conference champions in the inaugural MAC Women’s Wrestling Championship
