GOLF Eric Stauffer HS 2023

Eric Stauffer

Eric Stauffer enters his second full year as the Spartans men’s and women’s head golf coach. He is in his seventh year on the York College golf staff after his stellar Spartan career. Stauffer took over the reigns of the program midway through the 2021-22 academic year.

Stauffer graduated from York with a degree in sport management in 2014 and went on to serve as the Golf Professional at Manada Golf Club in Grantville, PA. He joined the Spartan coaching staff during the 2017-18 campaign. His arrival coincided with the start of the Spartan varsity women’s program.

The Spartan men finished third at the loaded Capital Athletic Conference championships during his first year on staff. Tyler Newton and Morgan Uhlick earned All-CAC honors. The Spartan women finished second as Emma Harding finished fourth to earn All-CAC accolades.

The Spartan men and women swept the CAC Championships during Stauffer’s second year on staff as the men earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The 2019-20 spring season was wiped out by COVID and the Spartans didn’t get back on the course until the spring of 2021. The Spartans made the switch to the Middle Atlantic Conference in the fall of 2020 and the golf schedule would consist of MAC only action in the spring of 2021. The Spartan swept the men’s and women’s MAC Championships as both teams earned berths in the NCAA Championship.

Stauffer took over the top spot in January of 2022. The men’s team finished second at the MAC Championships as Nick Fioravante and Riley Rohlfs earned first-team MAC All-Commonwealth honors while Matthew Salter earned second-team honors.

On the women’s side, the Spartans won their second straight MAC championship, cruising to a 24-stroke victory. Junior Natalie Robson defended her individual title as she earned her second MAC Player of the Year award. She won a four-hole playoff to capture the individual title. Jordan Koller joined Robson on the first team while Shelby Tapman and Anna Moore were second team honorees. Stauffer was named the MAC Coach of the Year for the efforts of his Spartan team.

The 2022-23 campaign saw the Spartan women capture their third straight MAC championship with four freshmen and a senior in the starting lineup. Freshman Tori Blanc earned the MAC Rookie of the Year award as she finished fourth. Robson concluded her stellar Spartan career with her third straight top five finish as she placed third after winning the previous two individual championships. Freshman Grace Strickland earned first-team honors as she placed fifth. Stauffer was named the MAC Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

The Spartan men finished second in the MAC Commonwealth as Gavin Ganter earned the Player of the Year title. Ganter fired a course record 70 at PB Dye and went on to win his first individual title. Rohlfs finished fourth as he ended his career as a three-time first-team MAC All-Commonwealth honoree.

Stauffer resides in Harrisburg with his wife Lauren.
