Fox Records 100th Goal in Spartan Rout

MONTCLAIR, NJ – The sixth ranked Spartan women's lacrosse team open cruised to a 14-4 win over Montclair State in their first road contest for the 2019 season. Junior Meghan Fox scored her 100th career goal in the win.

How It Happened:

• The Spartans didn't wait long to grab the lead as Jordan Conley found the back of the net just 42 seconds into the contest. Devin Hursey added another only a few minutes after to give York the early 2-0 lead. 

• After a pair of Red Hawk goals from Chelsea Orban, York ended the half with five unanswered goals including three straight from Meghan Fox in a span of 10:23 as York took a controlling 7-2 advantage into halftime.

• York continued to roll on the offensive end as they scored the first four goals of the second half in the first 11:20 including a trio of tallies from Skye Slater. The Spartans led 11-2 with 18:40 to play and were in complete control.

• The defense continued to hold the Red Hawks at bay while York added three more goals to coast to a 14-4 win to start off their three-game road trip.

The Spartans are now 4-1 against the Red Hawks and have won two in a row in the brief series between the teams … York has outscored Montclair State 23-8 in the last two meetings … York has started 2-0 for the third straight season … junior Meghan Fox recorded her 100th goal in the win becoming just the fifth Spartan in school history to reach the century mark in career goals … Fox now had a team-leading eight goals on the year … York has outscored their opponents 30-13 in the opening two games of the season … senior Skye Slater recorded her second-straight hat trick and now has seven goals and an assist in just two games … Devin Hursey added a pair of goals and assists to give her a team-high 11 total points already on the year … with five more draw controls, Nicole Clauter now has 228 for her career and is just 36 shy from the all-time school record.
