How It Happened
• Turnovers prevented York from gaining momentum offensively in the early minutes, but Catholic was unable to pull away due to a high number of missed shots from close range. Both offenses found rhythm late as the teams traded field goals six times inside the final 90 seconds of the first quarter with the Cardinals taking a 20-18 lead into the break.
• The Catholic offense went ice cold in the second quarter, shooting just 1-for-16 from the floor, while York found a groove, led by Haley Luckabaugh's 12 second-quarter points. Luckabaugh knocked down a big three-pointer at the first half buzzer to swell the York lead to 10 heading into halftime.
• Luckabaugh remained hot from range as she knocked two more three-pointers in the third quarter to fuel the York offense. Catholic went to work down low, racking up 14 points in the paint and cut the deficit to three with 51 seconds left in the quarter. Jayla Galbreath provided a spark off the bench late in the quarter and drained her free throw to convert a three-point play as York held a four-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
• The Spartans pushed their lead up to seven early in the second quarter, but the Cardinals came storming back with 16 unanswered points to take a 70-64 lead with 1:53 left. York cut the deficit to four with 1:15 left on a Luckabaugh layup, but Catholic responded with points on back-to-back possessions to deny York a comeback bid.
