|Title:||Asst. Coach - Throws|
Sarah Brotzman begins her second season as the Throws Coach at York College and her fifth year coaching at the collegiate level with the 2018-19 season.
Throughout Brotzman’s first year as the throws coach at YCP, she helped to lead several athletes to placing in the Top Eight at both the Indoor and Outdoor CAC Track and Field Championships as well as watch as several YCP school records were broken.
During the indoor season, Gabby Emeigh placed 8th in women’s shot and 6th in women’s weight throw, while Sydney Fitzwater broke the women’s shot record from 2013. Moving into outdoor, Emeigh was a standout again as she not only placed 8th in Hammer and 3rd in Javelin at the conference championship meet, but also broke the 11 year old women’s hammer record from 2007. Fitzwater also earned herself a spot on the podium at the outdoor championships where she placed third in Women’s Discus, and narrowly missed matching the school record in the same event by .01 meters.
Before coaching at YCP, Brotzman was the inaugural Throws Coach for the PSU-Harrisburg Track and Field team. Throughout her three years there, Brotzman coached over 10 CAC place winners, with standout representation coming from Joseph Rebarchak (2017 CAC Men's Javelin Champion) and Cameron Yon (2016 CAC Men's Discus Champion). In 2016, Brotzman coached Yon to becoming the first NCAA All-American (3rd in Men's Discus) in any sport in the history of the school. His 2016 performances also qualified him for the USTFCCCA Junior Olympics Championships in California. In 2017, Yon placed 10th at the NCAA DIII Championships, and 3rd at Penn Relays where he competed against throwers from across all NCAA division levels.
A throws standout herself and graduate of Shippensburg University, Brotzman earned two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference titles in the discus and nine All-PSAC titles that helped contribute to four indoor and four outdoor PSAC team titles. By maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.5 and being nationally ranked in the discus and hammer, Brotzman also was awarded three NCAA Academic All-American honors throughout her collegiate career.
In 2017, Brotzman achieved Summa Cum Laude while earning a Master’s Degree from Messiah in Higher Education with a split concentration in Student Affairs and Collegiate Athletic Leadership. Brotzman currently works for the Residence Life and Housing Office at York College as the Area Coordinator for West Campus.
