FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The York College men's soccer squad ran into a buzz saw on Wednesday afternoon in their regular season finale as the University of Mary Washington Eagles rolled the Spartans 5-1 in Capital Athletic Conference play. The Eagles, who enter next week's CAC tournament as the two seed, earned their fourth win in their last five games since their 1-0 loss to the Spartans on October 12. York ends the regular season with three straight losses heading into the CAC tournament.

Spartan goalie Billy Bridegum set a new school record in the loss as he made 15 saves, breaking the previous school record of 11 that he shared with Charlie Johnson.

How It Happened

• The Eagles jumped on the Spartans early as they pressured the Spartan defense early in the game. That pressure almost paid off in the 12th minute but the Spartans notched a defensive save as a defender cleared it off the line. The Eagles finally broke through in the 16th minute as Josh Everard fed Jeremy Hokenson with a pass that he finished off for the 1-0 lead.

• The Eagles added to the lead less than two minutes later as Jacob Lovinger found the back of the cage for the 2-0 lead. Mary Washington made it 3-0 in the 39th minute as Josh Kirland scored off a Lucas Turney assist. The Spartans broke up the shutout in the 44th minute as junior Aidan Wisely scored off a Joey Faddoul pass to get York on the board.

• The second half was all Eagles as they got a pair of goals to provide for the final 5-1 score. Noah Mazzatenta scored in the 48th minute while Gabriel Francesconi found the scoring column in the 73rd minute.
