YORK, PA – The York College men's soccer squad saw their three-game home field win streak come to an end on Wednesday as St. Mary's edged York 1-0 in a physical Capital Athletic Conference contest at Graham Field. The Spartans fall to 4-4 in the league as they are now tied with the Seahawks for third in the CAC standings.

How It Happened:

• The Seahawks had all the momentum early as they controlled the first ten minutes of play in the game, firing off the first five shots of the game with three coming on frame. The Spartans eventually settled in but they never really got any offensive traction. The Spartans were outshot 7-2 including 3-0 in shots on goal as the York offense didn't have any dangerous chances.

• The teams came out with renewed enthusiasum in the second half as a physical game got even more physical. The Seahawks got the first chance in the second half as Trevor Hogan was forced to make another save 2:10 into the half. The Seahawks drew back-to-back corner kicks that were fruitless as the game remain tied.

• After Hogan was forced to leave the game due to injury in the 52nd minute, the Seahawks had a flurry of three shots over a four-minute period as they regained the momentum in the game. That momentum paid off finally paid off in the 74th minute as Isaac Ekobo played a ball from the left side of the box, across the goalmouth where Roshawn Panton tapped the ball inside the far right post for the game's lone goal.

• York got a pair of shots on goal over the final ten minutes of regulation but wouldn't be able to find the equalizer as they were shutout for the second time in three games and the fifth time overall this year.

Notes:

The Spartans fall to 30-8-1 all-time against St. Mary's as the Seahawks have won the last three in the series … the two squads met for the final time in the regular season as conference opponents as York departs the CAC for the MAC next fall … York was shutout for the fifth time this year … York is 0-3-2 when failing to score … the Spartan defense has surrendered two goals in the last six games as York is 4-2 in that stretch … York has played in five straight games that were decided by a 1-0 score … York is now 4-2-1 at Graham Field this year with both losses coming by one goal … York was held to single digits in shots for the fourth time this year … all four of those games have come in the last five games … the Spartans' six shots were a season low … York had just two corner kicks in the game, tying for the second lowest total of the year.
