Five Seniors to Represent Spartans at USILA Division III All-Star Game

YORK, PA. – Five seniors from the Spartans men's lacrosse team have been invited to play in the 2019 USILA Division III Senior All-Star game at the United States Lacrosse Training Center in Sparks, Maryland on Friday, May 24 at 5:00 pm.

Seniors Hunter Davis, Thomas Pfeiffer, J.D. Beck, Kevin Witchey, and Cole Fenton have been selected to represent the Green and White in the 78th edition of the game. These seniors are part of the winningest class in York College history with 73 combined wins under head coach Brandon Childs.

Davis, Pfeiffer, Beck, and Witchey all earned first-team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors earlier this money as the Spartans placed a school-record tying nine players on the all-conference teams in 2019.

Davis leaves York as one of the most prolific scorers in Spartan history. Davis led the team with 57 goals on the year while also dishing out 26 assists for 83 total points. He is the second-highest goal scorer in school history with 173 over his career.

Pfeiffer departs from York as another dynamic offensive weapon for the Green and White. Pfeiffer led the squad as a senior with 88 points on 53 goals and 35 assists. His 35 helpers also led the team. He ended his career as the all-time leader in assists with 100.

Beck had a strong senior season as a long-stick midfielder for the Spartans. Beck led the team with 34 caused turnovers while also picking up 40 ground balls on the year. Beck leaves the program as the all-time leader in games played with 87 and second in caused turnovers with 91.

Witchey was the anchor of a strong Spartan defense as a senior as he often drew the matchup of the opponent's best offense player. Witchey caused 28 turnovers and picked up 32 ground balls on the season. He ends his career with 65 total caused turnovers, good for fourth all-time.

Fenton was the heart and soul for the Spartans since he joined the team as the student manager. Fenton received the Jake Jaquet Fighting Heart Award earlier this month at the Spartan Athletic Department Awards Ceremony.

Other Spartans to play in the game in recent history include Joey Fiorino, Dillon Hannah, and Matt Whitcher in 2018, Caleb Abney and Josh Kluver in 2016, Tyler Hutson in 2015, and Seth Krolus and James Lowe in 2014.

The Green and White finished the year with a school-record tying 19 wins as they reached the NCAA National Quarterfinals for back-to-back seasons and the third time in school history.
