YORK, PA. – York College senior faceoff specialist Billy Sasso has earned Google Cloud Academic All-District IV honors as announced by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) on Wednesday.
Sasso is now eligible to earn a spot on the national team after making his first appearance on the All-District squad. The Academic All-American program honor student-athletes who are at least a sophomore and owns a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or above while they also must be significant contributor to their respective teams. The Academic All-American program dates back to 1952 and has honors thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports across all divisions.
Sasso is an outstanding student as he owns a 3.81 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. Sasso is a six-time member of the York College Dean's List. He joins a group of just ten student-athletes on the All-District team.
Sasso concluded his outstanding Spartan career as a two-time All-Capital Athletic Conference performer earning first team as a junior and second team as a senior. He was also an honorable mention All-American as a junior. Sasso is third all-time in career faceoff winning percentage as .598 as well as the program's all-time leader in career faceoff wins with 757. He also finished his career with seven goals and four assists and 395 ground balls.
His senior season was another stellar one for Sasso as he won 252 faceoffs for a .616 winning percentage while also scoring three goals and three assists. He leaves the program as a member of the winningest class in York College history with a 73-14 combined four-year record.
Sasso is the son of Chip and Brenda Sasso from Freehold, New Jersey. He was one of nine seniors of the 2019 class for the Spartans men's lacrosse team.
