ABBOTTSTOWN, PA – The York College men's golf squad had an outstanding Saturday as they hold the first round lead at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic hosted by McDaniel College. The Spartans shot a team score of 294 as they hold a six stroke lead after the first round at the Bridges Golf Club in Abbottstown, Pa.

Top Spartan Performers
• The Spartans were led by the tandem of Tyler Newton and Casey Leebrick as the duo combined to shoot 143. Newton carded a one-under-par 71 as he sits two strokes back of Goucher's Julian Gonzalez in second place. Leebrick finished the day with an even-par 72 as he is in third place, one stroke back of Newton and three strokes back of Gonzalez.
• Freshman Dylan Wyatt played well on Saturday as he finished with a two-over-par 74 as he is tied for seventh place. Wyatt has really played well since he opened his collegiate career with an 87 in the opening round of the Royal Lakes Fall Invitational. Wyatt fired a 74 in the final round of that tournament and then carded another 74 on Saturday.
• Sophomore Joel Marshall was three strokes back of Wyatt as he shot a five-over-par 77. Marshall is tied for 32nd place in the 90-player field.
• Sophomore Luke Fayocavitz was York's fifth tournament participant as he shot an 86 to finish tied for 84th.
The Spartans will look to pick up their first tournament championship of the year on Sunday as they will play the second round of the tournament. York will be a part of the final set of tee times as York goes off starting at 12:05 pm tomorrow at the Bridges.
