HARRISBUG, PA. – The York College baseball team had their ten-game winning streak snapped as the Spartan bats went cold and York dropped their first CAC game this season in a 15-2 loss to PSU Harrisburg

Records:

York (Pa.): 10-2, (5-1)

PSU Harrisburg: 12-4-1, (4-2)

Game One Stats

Score: York 2, PSU Harrisburg 15

Hits: York 4, PSU Harrisburg 11

Left on Base: York 7, PSU Harrisburg 8

How It Happened:

• The Lions would grab an early lead striking twice with two outs in the opening frame. Miguel Torres would single and steal second base and then come in to score on a single from Travis Van Houten. Two batters later, Ryan McSorley would single through the right side to bring in another run and the Lions led 2-0 after the first inning.

• York would cut the Lion lead in half in the top of the third inning by taking advantage of a PSU error. Austin Denlinger walked and would come in to score on a Lion error off the bat of Jack Barry. The Spartans would leave Barry stranded in scoring position but trailed by just one.

• The York offense would go cold as they went hitless for the next four innings while the Lions blasted back-to-back homeruns from McSorley and Zachary Koroneos in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 4-1. The Lions would add a pair of runs on just one hit in the bottom of the seventh on a Van Houten double and a wild pitch as they ballooned their lead to five after seven innings.

• The Spartans would get one run back in the top of the eighth on an RBI-double by Brandon White to bring in Denlinger but the bottom half of the inning would do the Spartans in as the Lions scored nine runs on just two hits while taking advantage of three Spartan errors in the field. That would put York away and they had their ten-game winning streak snapped as they fell to PSU 15-2.
