Spartans Open Season at Galen Piper Challenge

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The York College men's cross country team opened the season by finishing eighth out of nine teams at the 16th Annual Galen Piper Challenge hosted by Shippensburg University on Friday evening.

George Washington finished first in the team standings with a score of 16 and landed five runners in the top-six. Shippensburg finished second, followed by Messiah, Dickinson and Elizabethtown in the top five.

Jose Oakes led the way for York by finishing 59th out of 131 finishers with a time of 21:32.6. Tyler Rackley (62nd), Charles Maccarelli (68th), Logan Rhoades (70th) and Tylor Druckemiller (71st) rounded out the Spartan top-five.

York returns to competition on Friday, September 18 at the Stevenson Invitational.
