WASHINGTON, D.C. – The York College women's tennis team opened their 2025 fall campaign with a 6-1 setback at Catholic University on Saturday morning in Washington, DC.
The Cardinals opened the match by earning wins in all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. The Spartans first doubles team of
Bri Serruto and
Maddi Haggerty kept their match close before falling 6-4.
Bonnie Thomas and
Maaria Khan, the Spartans second doubles team fell 6-3 before the Cardinals completed the sweep with a 6-2 third doubles win.
York got their lone point in the match in second singles. Haggerty posted a 6-4, 6-2 win over Ella Knox to keep the Spartans from getting shutout.
Mia Leonhartt almost got another singles win for York as she took Ava Kaloustian to three sets in the fifth singles match. All six matches were competitive for the Spartans.
The Spartans are off until next Saturday when they head to Annville, PA to take on MAC Freedom rival Lebanon Valley. The match is slated for a 10:00 am start.
