Box Score TOWSON, MD – The York College women's tennis team leveled their fall record at 1-1 with a 4-3 non-conference win at Goucher College on Tuesday afternoon in Towson, Maryland.
The Spartans improve to 1-1 while the Gophers fall to 0-2 with the setback.
The Spartans got off to a great start in doubles play as they swept the three matches. The Spartans earned a forfeit win in the third doubles match.
Maaria Khan and
Kennedy Conte rolled to a 6-1 second doubles win to capture the doubles point.
Bri Serruto and
Maddi Haggerty earned a 6-2 first doubles win to complete the sweep.
The Spartans made the score 2-0 with a six singles forfeit win. The Gophers then came roaring back with wins at first, second, and third singles. Serruto played well at first singles but dropped a 2-6, 6-2, 10-2 decision to Natalia Navarroo. The Gophers took the second and third singles in straight sets but York got wins from
Mia Leonhartt and
Khan to secure the team victory. Leonhartt won the fourth singles match 6-0, 6-4 while Khan posted a 6-4, 6-0 fifth singles win for the Green and White.
The Spartans conclude their fall schedule on Friday afternoon as they host Gettysburg College in a non-conference match. The action is slated for a 3:00 pm start at the Myers Tennis Complex.
