Box Score ARLINGTON, VA – The York College men's tennis team picked up their first win of the 2024 fall campaign as they downed Marymount University 5-2 in Arlington, Virginia on Sunday.
The Spartans improve to 1-1 while the Saints drop the opening match of their season.
York earned the one doubles point as they won the second and third doubles matches.
Hayden Musser and
Evan Stehman earned a hard-fought 6-4 second doubles win.
Parker Sanders and
Ian Bartles combined to earn a 6-2 third doubles win as York took a 1-0 lead.
The Saints got on the board with wins at first and third singles but the Spartans won the remaining four singles matches to cruise to the win.
Ben Dorsey cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 second singles win for the Green and White. Stehman earned a 6-2, 6-3 fourth singles win to give the Spartans a 3-2 lead. Musser outlasted Nathaniel Tesfaye 1-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the fifth singles contest. Bartles closed out the win with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Trung Tran in the sixth singles match.
The Spartans are now off until September 28 when they head to Middletown, PA to face off against the Penn State Harrisburg Lions. The match is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
