TOWSON, MD – The York College women's tennis squad finally got to open their 2023 fall campaign as they fell to Goucher College 6-3 in Towson on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans played their first fall match after having their first three matches canceled due to weather.
The Spartans are 0-1 while the Gophers improve to 2-1.

Elsa Oestermarker and sophomore
Bri Serruto combined to earn an 8-5 win. Goucher earned an 8-6 second doubles win while they earned an 8-1 win in the third doubles.
Oestermarker and Serruto were equally successful in singles play. Oestermarker rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win in the first singles match. Serruto outlasted Goucher's Melin Sigen 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) in the third singles contest for York's other individual win.
Sophomore
Maddi Haggerty dropped a 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 loss in the fourth singles decision in the fourth doubles match. The Spartans lost the other three singles matches in straight sets.
The Spartans return to action on Sunday afternoon as they host Randolph-Macon in a non-conference contest in York. The match is slated for a noon start at the Myers Tennis Complex.
