YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis squad played their first game at the new Spartan Tennis Center and came away with a 9-0 win over McDaniel in non-conference action on Wednesday.
The Spartans are now 1-0 overall while McDaniel falls to 0-1.
The Green and White roared out of the gates with a trio of doubles wins.
Tej Laliwala and
Evan Stehman combined to post an 8-0 first doubles win.
Jack Leinbach and
Ben Dorsey earned an 8-2 second doubles win while
Lance Fries and
Hayden Musser posted an 8-6 third doubles win in the closest match of the day.
Laliwala kicked off singles play with a shutout win in first singles with a 6-0, 6-0 first singles win. Leinbach earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Evan Darr in the second singles match. Stehman was nearly perfect with a 6-1, 6-0 third singles win. Dorsey match Laliwala with a 6-0, 6-0 fourth singles win over Parth Shah.
Fries notched a 6-1, 6-2 fifth singles win while
Grant Haffner earned an 8-6 sixth singles win.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday, September 24 when York heads to Middletown, PA to take on Penn State Harrisburg. The match is part of a men's/women's doubleheader against the Lions and is set for a noon start.
