Box Score WASHINGTON, DC – The York College women's tennis squad closed out their fall competition schedule with an 8-1 win over Catholic University on a cool Sunday afternoon in Washington, DC.
The Spartans conclude the fall with a record of 1-2 while the Cardinals are 3-3 overall.
The Spartans earned a trio of wins in the three doubles matches. The Spartan third doubles duo of
Chloe Doyle and
Kelsey Sheets gave York the 1-0 lead with an 8-2 victory in their match.
Brianna Rohrer and
Morrissey Walsh made it 2-0 with an 8-1 second doubles win.
Elsa Oestermarker and
Lauren Ostermann had to work a little harder as they posted an 8-6 first doubles win to sweep for the Spartans.
The Spartans started off the singles with Walsh earning a 6-1, 6-1 fifth singles win for York. Rohrer captured the all-important fifth point as she earned a 6-3, 6-2 fourth singles win for the Green and White as York led 5-0.
The Cardinals got on the board with a third singles win but the Spartan closed out the match with a trio of wins to pick up their first fall win. Sheets recorded a 6-4, 6-3 sixth singles win for York while Oestermarker cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 first singles win. Doyle closed out the match with a 7-5, 6-4 second singles win for York.
The Spartans will return to action in March as they will look to defend their 2021 MAC Commonwealth Championship.
