Women's Tennis Earns Road Win at Goucher

TOWSON, MD – The York College women's tennis team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 non-conference win at Goucher College on Wednesday afternoon in Towson.

The Spartans improve to 5-4 with the victory while the Gophers fall to 4-6.

The Spartans captured all three doubles points in the match. Katie Wagner and Darian Naill secured the first doubles point with an 8-2 win. Rachel Wagner and Mckenzie Krout earned an 8-5 win over Ali Gorson-Morrow and Ali Tomasevich in the second doubles match. Maisie Supp and Carter Vaughn combined to post an 8-2 third doubles win over Amber Penaloza and Mackenzie Donahue.

Rachel Wagner opened up singles play with a 6-1, 6-0 second singles win for the Spartans. Wagner improves to 4-3 overall with the win. Katie Wagner then notched a 6-0, 6-0 first singles win over Mandile Mpofu as she earned her sixth win of the year. The win was also her 28th career victory as she is now tied for second on the all-time singles win's list. She is three wins away from tying the school record of 31 career singles victories.

Maisie Supp picked up York's sixth point of the day as she won the fifth singles match 7-5, 6-2.

The Green and White return to action on Friday afternoon as they host the University of Mary Washington in a Capital Athletic Conference match. Due to the expected rains in the region on Thursday and Friday, the match will be held at Wisehaven Tennis Club and will begin at 12:00 pm.
