Spartans Blank Lions in CAC Match Tuesday

MIDDLETOWN, PA – The York College women's tennis squad blanked Penn State Harrisburg 9-0 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Tuesday afternoon in Middletown.

The Spartans improve to 7-5 overall while they are now 3-3 in the conference. Harrisburg falls to 2-13 overall and 0-7 in the league.

The Spartans kicked off the match with three dominating performances in doubles play. Katie Wagner and Darian Naill rolled to an 8-1 first doubles win. Rachel Wagner and Mckenzie Krout earned an 8-0 shutout win in the second doubles match. Carter Vaughn and Maisie Supp combined to earn an 8-0 third doubles victory.

Rachel Wagner kicked off the singles results with a 6-1, 6-1 second singles win. Katie Wagner downed Sydney Nye 6-2, 6-0 as she is now just one win away from tying Kaitlyn Acker for the school record of 31 singles wins. Wagner is now 30-8 for her Spartan career.

Krout earned a 6-4, 6-4 third singles win as she now owns 27 career victories for the Green and White. Naill picked up a 6-2, 6-0 fourth singles win to push the York lead to 7-0.

Supp continues to put together a strong freshman campaign as she improved to 8-2 courtesy of her 6-1, 6-0 fifth singles win on Wednesday. Fellow freshman Gina Liguori posted a 6-0, 6-0 double bagel to win the sixth singles match.

The Spartans return to action on Wednesday when they head to Frostburg State to face the Bobcats in their CAC regular season finale. The match is slated for a 3:00 pm start.
