Captains Blank Spartan Men in CAC Contest

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College men's tennis squad suffered a 9-0 loss to nationally ranked Christopher Newport on Saturday afternoon in Newport News, Virginia.

The Captains, who are ranked 33rd in the country and 8th in the region, improve to 9-7 overall while they are 3-1 in the league. The Spartans fall to 1-5 overall while they are 0-2 in the league.

The Captains swept the three doubles points as they earned 8-2 wins at first and second doubles while the CNU third doubles team won 8-0.

In singles play, York freshman Ben Sentz was the lone Spartan to force three sets as he dropped a 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 10-7 decision to William Trang in the second singles match.

In York's other five singles matches, the Spartans scored a combined five points as the Captains earned the conference win.

There will be very little rest for the Spartans as they head back on the road Sunday morning as they trek to Salisbury University to face the Sea Gulls in a Capital Athletic Conference match.

The match is set for a 1:00 pm start in Salisbury, Maryland.
