Men's Tennis Concludes CAC Season with a Win

MIDDLETOWN, PA  – The York College men's tennis team closed out their 2016 Capital Athletic Conference schedule with a 7-2 win over Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday in Middletown, PA. The Spartans improve to 6-7 overall and 2-5 in the league while the Lions fall to 6-7 overall and 1-6 in the league.

 

Spartan Singles Winners

1st Singles: Sam Innerst def Rafael Fernandes, 6-1, 6-2

3rd Singles: Zach Hanson def James Moore, 0-6, 6-2, 6-4

4th Singles: Rory Handlin def. Austin Pokopec, 6-4, 6-1

5. C.J. Weigle def Marco Guerrero, 6-1, 6-1

6. Joel Hess def Ethan Finger 3-6, 6-0, 6-2

Spartan Doubles Winners

1st Doubles: Zach Hanson and Rory Handlin def. Tyler Cook and James Moore 8-1

2nd Doubles: Sam Innerst and C.J. Weigle def. Rafael Fernandes and Austin Pokopec, 8-4

 

Notes:

The Spartans earned their second conference in of the year … Zach Hanson leads the team in singles wins as he is 7-5 at third singles … C.J. Weigle is right behind Hanson at 6-3 … Sam Innerst is 5-8 overall in first singles but is 3-3 in conference play … Sam Innerst and Devin Lehigh lead the Spartans in doubles as they are 6-3 for York.

What's Next:

The Spartans close out their season with a non-conference road trip to McDaniel on Sunday afternoon. The action is slated for a 2:00 pm start.
