Spartans fall to Nationally Ranked Captains in Home Finale

YORK, PA – The York College women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to nationally ranked Christopher Newport in a Capital Athletic Conference contest played indoors at the Wisehaven Tennis Club in York. The Captains, ranked 33rd in the nation, improve to 12-6 overall and 5-1 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 7-4 overall and 2-4 in the league.

Since the teams were playing indoors, the two squads played to decision in the match.

Spartans Singles Winners

The Spartans did not win a singles match as the Captains won the second and sixth singles matches. They were the only two singles matches completed.

Spartans Doubles Winners

The Spartans did not win any of the three doubles matches. The Captains earned the three doubles wins by scores of 8-0, 8-1, 8-2.

Notes:

The windy and cold conditions forced the teams to go inside for the conference match … sophomore ace Katie Wagner was locked in a duel with Katie Carlson at first singles when the match ended … today's match was the final home match for York's lone senior Megan Jones.

What's Next:

The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Penn State Harrisburg to face the Lions in a CAC contest. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
