YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team dropped a 5-0 to #20 Christopher Newport in Capital Athletic Conference action at the Wisehaven Tennis Club in York, PA. The Captains improve to 11-6 overall and 5-1 in the league while the Spartans fall to 5-7 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Since the teams were playing indoors, the squads played to decision.
Spartan Singles Winners
York did not win either of the two singles matches.
Spartan Doubles Winners
The Captains swept the three doubles matches by scores of 8-0, 8-5, and 8-0.
Notes:
The windy and cold conditions forced the teams to go inside for the conference match … freshman Sam Innerst played well in first singles as he fell to Justin Cerny 6-4, 6-4 in the first singles match … Innerst teamed with C.J. Weigle in the second doubles and that duo put up a battle as they lost their match 8-5 … the match was the final home appearances for York's two seniors, Zach Hanson and Rory Handlin.
What's Next:
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Penn State Harrisburg to face the Lions in a CAC contest. The match is slated for a 3:30 pm start.
