Messiah Edges Spartans in Fall Finale

YORK, PA – The York College men's tennis team concluded the fall portion of their schedule with a tight 5-4 loss to Messiah College on a breezy Tuesday afternoon in York.

Spartans' Singles Winners

2nd Singles: Ben Sentz def. Connor Graybeal, 6-4, 6-3

6th Singles: Sam Price def. Blake Ross, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5)

 

Spartans' Doubles Winners

1st Doubles: Sam Innerst/Devin Lehigh def. Tim Dunn/Connor Graybeal, 8-5

3rd Doubles: Lukas Olson/Joel Hess def. Alex Mantsevich/Keller Martin, 8-1

 

Match Notes:

The Spartans went 1-2 during their three match fall campaign … freshman Ben Sentz led the Spartans with a 2-1 singles record from the second singles position … The Spartans went 2-1 at the sixth singles position as Sam Price went 1-1 and Joel Hess was 1-0 … Sam Innerst and Devin Lehigh combined to go 2-1 in the first doubles slot while Joel Hess and Lukas Olson also went 2-1 at third doubles position … York has lost two straight 5-4 decisions to Messiah … the last three matches against Messiah have been 5-4 finals … Messiah has won two straight against York after the Spartans had won eight in a row in the series.

 

Up Next

The Spartans return to action on Saturday, March 11 when they host Southern Virginia in a Capital Athletic Conference contest. The match is slated for an 11:00 am start at the Spartan Tennis Centre.
