Spartan Men Close Out 2015-16 Regular Season at Marymount

ARLINGTON, VA – The York College men's swim team closed out their 2015-16 regular season with a 122-83 loss to Marymount University in Capital Athletic Conference action on Sunday. The meet was a make-up from the Winter Storm Jonas and came on the heels of the Spartans' meet against Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon.

The day began with the Spartans capturing second and third in the 200 medley relay. The Spartans' A squad consisting of Morgan Schreiber (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove), Kyle Walthall (Port Hueneme, Calif./Rio Mesa), Nick Leidy (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley), and Trevor Brinton (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) combined to post a time of 1:41.12, just .45 seconds back of the winning Marymount time. The York B team of David Altobelli (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake), Donald Timmerman (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), Tim McCullough (Rose Valley, Pa./Strath Haven), and Artem Peshenko (Elkins Park, Pa./Abington) combined to finish third with a time of 1:45.42.

York earned a win in the 1000 free as Nick Foltz (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) finished with a time of 10:55.21. Teammate Brandon Tarbrake (Beltsville, Md./Gonzaga College) earned a third place finish in the race with a time of 11:13.51. The Spartans got a second and third place finish in the 200 free as Walthall was the runner-up with a time of 1:50.81 while Jacob McConnell (Chesterfield, N.J./Northern Burlington) was third at 1:50.99.

The Saints swept the top three spots in the 50 freestyle to pick up 16 team points. York got a second place finish from Leidy in the 400 IM as he recorded a time of 4:43.54. The Spartans earned another two-three finish in the 200 butterfly as Schreiber earned a runner-up finish with a time of 2:04.08. McConnell was third in the event as he touched the wall in a time of 2:09.28. Brinton earned a third place finish in the 100 free as he earned a time of 50.71.

Schreiber picked up another runner-up finish for York as he was second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.34. Senior Martin Dichmann-Schmidt (Pilesgrove, N.J./Woodstown) was third with a finishing time of 2:13.77.

Altobelli and Tarbrake went two-three in the 500 free as Altobellli posted a time of 5:17.40 while Tarbrake recorded a time of 5:23.84.

Walthall earned a win in the 200 breaststroke as he rolled to an 11 second win in the event with a time of 2:08.17. Timmerman finished third with a time of 2:19.28 as he narrowly missed out on second place.

The Spartans finished second and third in the 200 free relay to close out the meet.

York will now turn its attention to the 2016 Capital Athletic Conference championships hosted by St. Mary's College. The championships begin on Friday, February 19 and will conclude on Sunday, February 21.
