Spartan Men Come Up Short Against Randolph-Macon

YORK, Pa. – The York College men's swimming team lost a closely contested dual meet, 107-98, to Randolph-Macon on Wednesday night at the York College Natatorium.

The Yellow Jackets (4-2) claimed first place finishes in eight of the 11 of the events, while the Spartans (6-6) totaled eight second place finishes.

The 200 yard medley relay team earned the first of three Spartan victories on the evening as the foursome of Morgan Schreiber (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottsgrove), Kyle Walthall (Port Hueneme, Calif. / Rio Mesa), Nick Leidy (Leesport, Pa. / Schuylkill Valley) and Trevor Brinton (Landenberg, Pa. / Avon Grove) produced a winning time of 1:38.78

Jacob McConnell (Chesterfield, N.J. / Northern Burlington) claimed York's first individual victory and second win overall on the night as he won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.75. Additionally, McConnell placed second in the 200 yard freestyle with a mark of 1:50.41.

In addition to contributing to a relay victory, Walthall also picked an individual victory as he won his signature event, the 100 yard breaststroke, with a time of 58.09. Also, Walthall placed second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:02.08

Schreiber also competed in the 100 yard backstroke where he placed second with a time of 53.08.

Brinton also contributed with two second place finishes, one in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.59 and one in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.68.

Leidy also had second place finish of his own as he recorded a time of 56.85 in the 100 yard butterfly.

The Spartans are scheduled to travel to Marymont (Va.) on Saturday to face the Saints at 2:00 p.m. Due to the impending weather, Saturday's contest is subject to change, so refer ycpspartans.com for updates.
