Spartan Women Close out Campaign with a Victory

HARRISBURG, PA – The York College women's tennis team concluded their 2015 spring season with a 9-0 win at PSU Harrisburg on Tuesday afternoon in Middletown, PA.

The Spartans close out the season with a mark of 5-11 overall and 2-5 in the CAC. The Lions conclude their campaign with an overall record of 3-11 and a 1-6 conference mark.

The Spartans swept the three doubles matches to get York off to a good start. York's first doubles tandem of Katie Wagner (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) and Darian Naill (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll) earned an 8-4 victory in their match. Emily Price (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Megan Jones (Felton, Pa./Red Lion) combined to earn an 8-4 second doubles win for the Spartans. Mckenzie Krout (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) and Emily Skutnik (Effort, Pa./Pleasant Valley) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 third doubles win for York.

Wagner opened singles play with a double bagel first singles win over Jessy Miller. Price posted a hard-fought three set win at second singles. Naill dropped her first second in the third singles match but bounced back to win the second and third sets 6-0, 6-0. Krout earned a 6-2, 6-2 fourth singles win for the Green and White. Skutnik rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 fifth singles win for York while Carter Vaughn recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win over Cassidy Straw in the sixth singles match.

The Spartans will say goodbye to seniors Price and Skutnik. Both seniors recorded five singles wins and five doubles wins during the year.
