SALISBURY, MD – The York College women's tennis team fell 9-0 to regionally ranked Salisbury University on Sunday morning in Salisbury, Maryland.
The eighth-ranked Sea Gulls improve to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in the CAC While the Green and White falls to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the league.
The Sea Gulls captured the three doubles matches. They won the first doubles 8-2, the second doubles 8-1, and third doubles 8-4.
Freshman Katie Wagner (Glen Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) played well against #13 Natalie Savage in the first singles match. Savage blitzed Wagner 6-0 in the first set but the Spartan number one battled back in the second set before falling 7-5 for her first collegiate singles loss.
Sophomore Mckenzie Krout (York, Pa./Red Lion) dropped a three set decision to Megan Souderlund. Krout earned the 6-4 win in the first set but Soderlund bounced back to win the second set 6-0 and the tiebreaking set 10-6.
The Spartans return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Frederick, Maryland to face the Hood Blazers in a non-conference contest.
