NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The York College men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 defeat at the hands of nationally ranked Christopher Newport University on Saturday afternoon in Capital Athletic Conference action in Newport News, Virginia.
The Captains improve to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in the conference while the Spartans fall to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the league.
The Captains swept the doubles as they dropped just three games in the three matches. CNU won the doubles matches by scores of 8-2, 8-0, and 8-1.
CNU kept rolling in the singles as they won all six matches in straight sets. York's Zach Hanson (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) had the best showing as he dropped the sixth singles match 6-1, 6-3.
York continues their weekend road trip on Sunday when they travel to Salisbury University to face the Sea Gulls. The match is slated for a 9:00 am start.
