YORK, PA – The York College swim team hosted a quad meet on Saturday as they welcome St. Mary's, St. Vincent, and Dickinson to York. The quad meet was scored as a triple dual and the Spartans fell in all three matchups. St. Mary's defeated the Spartans 123-79 while Dickinson earned a 156-48 win. St. Vincent posted a 135.5-65.5 victory over the hosts.
The Spartans are now 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the CAC.
The Spartan women started the day with a fifth place finish in the 400 medley relay as the foursome of Sara Zalkind (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West), Samantha Hay (Bangor, Pa./Bangor), Maria Allera (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake), and Taylor Witte (University Park, Md./St. John's College) combined to post a time of 4:33.70.
The Green and White had a pair of top eight finishers in the 1000 free as freshman Brianna Blackwell (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) placed fifth and Madison Tonkay (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) finished seventh. Blackwell touched the wall in a time of 11:40.0 while Tonkay recorded a time of 11:53.92.
Freshman Kate McConaghy (Phoenixville, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) earned a top eight in the 200 free as she posted a time of 2:08.16.
Senior Courtney Dacheux (Dover, Pa./Dover) was again outstanding in the 50 freestyle as the senior placed third with a time of 23.89. Dacheux was just .19 seconds back of second and .76 seconds out of first place.
In the 200 IM, Tonkay just missed out on a top eight finish as the junior placed ninth with a time of 2:30.51.
Freshman Kacey Banks (Silver Spring, Md./Spencerville Adventist Academy) continued her strong first year in the Green and White as she placed third in the 200 fly. Banks finished with a time of 2:17.01 while teammate McConaghy placed fifth with a time of 2:21.51.
Dacheux recorded the Spartans' lone top-eight finish in the 100 free as she recorded a time of 58.39.
Senior Sammy Greenwald (Germantown, Md./Northwest) notched a top eight for York in the 200 backstroke as she recorded a time of 2:26.94 to tie her for seventh place in the event.
Banks recorded a second top eight finish as she placed eighth in the 500 free as she notched a time of 5:39.74, a mere .26 seconds out of seventh and .48 seconds out of sixth place.
Freshman Danielle Werner (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) led a trio of top eight finishes in the 200 breaststroke as she placed fifth in the race. Werner recorded a time of 2:46.62. Hay touched the wall in a time of 2:48.8 for a sixth place finish while Tonkay placed eighth with a time of 2:52.39.
The Green and White closed out the meet with a third place finish in the 400 free relay. The foursome of Taylor Michielini (Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills), Werner, Greenwald, and Dacheux combined to post a time of 3:57.08.
The Spartans return to action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Messiah for a non-conference dual meet. The action is set for a 6:00 pm start.
